Daejeon is a large city located in the center of Korea. Major train lines and expressways go through this home of government, science and education facilities. Tourist sites include theme parks, water parks and a zoo. Located in the central region of South Korea, Daejeon serves as a hub of transportation and is at the crossroads of major transport routes. The capital Seoul is about 50 minutes away by KTX high-speed train.
Daejeon is a center of transportation in South Korea, with two major expressways, Gyeongbu Expressway and Honam Expressway. The nearest airport to Daejeon is Cheongju Airport, about a thirty-minute drive north of Daejeon. However, there are also direct bus connections to Incheon International Airport.
The National Science Museum is a scientific culture facility which studies and exhibits various scientific materials. It also has the only world-class space theater in Korea.
Yuseong Hot Springs which is located at the center of Daejeon, is known to be effective in countering many kinds of maladies. The water here contains alkaline minerals such as calcium, and potassium, sulphur, carbonic acid, silicic acid and radium, thereby making it famous for its incredible healing properties.
In the Expo park, various facilities are available like Hanbit Tower, the representative tower of Daejeon World Expo; Daejeon Expo Memorial Hall, remodeled to commemorate the Daejeon World Expo; World Expo Memorial Museum, exhibiting the world expo’s souvenir and symbolic objects throughout 200 years of expo history; Daejeon Traffic Culture Institute where children can join the education and history related to transportation.
