The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has announced 35 Cultural Tourism Festivals for 2020-2021 on December 27, 2019. Cultural Tourism Festivals are outstanding festivals that attract tourists to different regions of Korea. Until 2019, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism designated festivals into categories of Premier Festivals, Best Festivals, Excellent Festivals, and Up-and-coming Festivals. However, these tiers have now been removed and festivals are no longer evaluated into grades.
This year’s newly added festivals are the following: Yeoncheon Paleolithic Festival, Jeongseon Arirang Festival, Cheongsong Apple Festival, Jinan Red Ginseng Festival, Ulsan Onggi Festival, and Gwangalli Eobang Festival.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism is planning to promote the 35 festivals by providing additional funds and adding more contents that international visitors can enjoy for the next two years.
